S/R Announcements






Spring Birthdays

-As you can see, we have a variety of activities planned for the Soc/Rec program in the upcoming weeks.   Hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate as we come into the springtime!   As always, feel free to pass on the information about new activities we have not tried that the group may enjoy.


-We continue utilizing our designated Helping Hands Soc/Rec cell phone to bring to each and every activity in case of emergencies. It is with a staff person at all times. That telephone number is 610-506-6723. Also, if you need to cancel for a particular activity, the vans leave for activities as follows: Wallyball-5:30pm on Monday nights, Bowling-12:30pm on Sundays, Swimming-5:00pm on Wednesdays. We check the general voicemail at the Helping Hands office and also mine (Laura’s office voicemail) before leaving for every activity. If you will not be attending or need to cancel, please contact the office prior to these times.

-Reminder: Please take note that the route for the parking lot at Helping Hands is entry only from Congo Niantic and exit is onto Hoffmansville Road. This assists with the traffic flow at the office.



-Attached, you will see information for the upcoming The Basket Raffle, being held on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the East Greenville Fire Company. In the January newsletter, we attached the Reading Phillies ticket book fundraiser. Contact the office or check out our Facebook page for more information. Thank you in advance for your support of the Soc/Rec and Summer Camp Programs!!!


Weekly program information:

-Our Bowling League will finish the league on Sunday, April 15th, at Limerick Bowling Lanes. We will have a pizza party this day and awards. Feel free to bring a snack for the group. There will be NO bowling on Sunday March 11, due to the conflict with the shore weekends and a tournament at the lanes.


-The Special Olympics Swim Team scrimmage and swim meets have already been scheduled as well. The swimming scrimmage is scheduled for Saturday, March 3 at the Boyertown YMCA.   The County swim meet is scheduled for Saturday, April 7th at Upper Dublin High School, and the end of season party is scheduled for Wednesday, April 11, 2018.  


-The Wallyball league will continue into the month of May.


-The 2018 Cruise vacation is totally booked and preparation is coming together. We will be taking this adventure from May 6-13, 2018!   A Reminder to all participants: We have a meeting on Wednesday, April 18th at the Helping Hands Office.


-We will be hosting two Cape May getaway weekends in the next few months.   The March weekend is able to be paid for utilizing funding, but the April weekend is NOT accepting waiver funding. Contact your Supports Coordinator for further waiver funding information.   See attached sheet for further information.


-The 2018 Summer Camp and Shore Flyers are scheduled to be mailed out the week of March 19, 2018. Keep your eyes out for the yellow flyer!



Fundraising!!!  Fundraising!!!



-We are again going to be hosting the Reading Phillies Ticket Book Fundraiser.  Ticket books cost $27.00 each, and come with 6 general admission tickets, good for any 2018 regular season home game.  Helping Hands will receive $10.00 for every book sold.   Attached you will find order form for this fundraiser, or the alternative for online purchasing.  And, don’t forget to check out the perks for sellers!!   Please contact the office if you have any questions!    


We will place two orders for the season, on February 26th, and the second order will be placed on March 26, 2018.  Opening day is April 5, 2018!! Or, you can order online at any time!!   See attached information for details.
